Today is the day! Today I start to “Blog It Off” with the Digest Diet. I wrote about how I met Liz Vaccariello at BlogHer and I learned all about The Digest Diet. Today is the day I began!
Now the first 4 days were the only days I was a little leery of. You basically drink a smoothie for breakfast and lunch, and have a snack then a soup for dinner. Ordinarily I would not entertain trying to eat this way as I feel it’s not as many nutrients or calories that I need, (or enough food passing my lips, people!) but for the sake of the diet, I decided to do it. Also, and a BIG reason I was more comfortable with it is that it’s all whole foods and clean eating- the way I try to eat most of the time. So no funky freaky stuff,. Of course, I am used to flax meal and coconut milk, so maybe that’s why I’m not freaking out.
For breakfast I had this super yummy Apple Cinnamon Smoothie How’s this for a healthy smoothie? it’s filed with
nonfat Yogurt- lowfat coconut milk
- nonfat milk powder
- 1 apple
- flax meal
- peanut butter
- honey
- cinnamon
- ice cubes
There was nothing in there that I do not use most of the time in my smoothies, except maybe the milk powder. I had a similar smoothie for lunch, but with grapes, some ground chia and no honey or cinnamon. I’ll be having a snack shortly of a pepper and ricotta cheese.
I made Spiced Winter Squash Soup with Asian Greens. It was BEYOND yummy and I loved it! I’m very excited I have plenty for the next 2 days.
One of the things I loved in the book was the recommendation for a daily check in. The suggestion was to answer these questions daily to stay motivated and on track:
What Made You Laugh Today?
My kitten, Mewie, made me laugh today. He is a little bit CRAZY and never fails to crack me up with his antics!
When, Where and How Did You Move?
I did a bunch of housework today. I also had to do all the shopping so I made sure I parked as far away as I could.
What Challenged You?
Staying on track today was hard, especially after dinner. I’m used to having a snack after dinner, and it was hard to walk away
Balancing Act: What Can/Did You Do to Achieve More of It?
I was full, and I knew I was full, so I had a coffee and really enjoyed it.I need to clean all the floors and finish the laundry tomorrow so I know I’ll get even more sweating on!
I totally forgot to take a weight photo yesterday- so I had to snap one this afternoon. Either I really partied hard during my BIRTHDAY WEEKEND (and yeah, I did) or I’m all full of green tea, but here’s the number- Day 1 of the Digest Diet:
It says I put back the 2.6 pounds I lost week. Truth is, I am NOT going to sweat this number- I am going to use it as a jumping off tool.
Also, I’ve been logging in my food on MyFitnessPal: username wendydelmo – so come and follow along!

Good job on day 1! I have the ingredients to make that soup, I think I’m going to do that today, so I can switch off.
Here’s to day 2!
good luck on your new diet it sounds interesting, hope this next week goes well don’t let that two pound gain get to you just move forward.
Go you! I am eager to see how you do on this since I have a copy of the book.
OOh I need to try that shake- sounds yummy! We talked about this diet- I love soup so I might try this later. I need to get back into my smoothies. Good luck the rest of the week mama!
Sounds like you are off to a great start! I’m doing the diet, too, and love reading about how other people are doing. Good luck!
