I love a Shamrock Shake around St. Patrick’s Day. The shake that a certain fast food restaurant makes has 530 calories and is full of ingredients I cannot say much less want in my body, and it certainly does not fit my healthy lifestyle. After some tinkering, I came up with my own version that is clean, green and definitely has a taste of the Irish in it! It’s full of healthy ingredients that FUEL your body and it only has 267 calories all healthy clean ingredients. Isn’t that lucky?
Ingredients
- 1/2 half frozen banana
- 1/2 avocado
- 1 cup baby spinach
- 1 cup almond milk (or any kind of milk)
- 2 drop mint extract
- 3 drops vanilla extract
- (optional- 1/2 tsp stevia or sugar)
Instructions
- Add all ingredients into a high powered blends and blend until smooth.
I love being able to come up with healthy and tasty alternative to unhealthy treats. It shows my family that eating well and being healthy isn’t boring! This is not a sweet shake, so add some green grapes, sugar or honey to sweeten it to your liking!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I’ll leave you with this Irish Blessing!
May you always have walls for the winds,
A roof for the rain, tea beside the fire,
Laughter to cheer you, those you love near you,
And all your heart might desire.

Looks great! AND I happen to have all the ingredients on hand – I love when that happens!!
I keep wanting to try a spinach shake. Maybe I can convince myself this one is green because it’s mint!
Promise- you won’t taste the spinach! My son drinks it all the time!
I’ve never thought of avocado in a shake. I bet it helps that creamy factor.
It always amazes me how you CAN’T taste the spinach in smoothies/shakes! Healthy way to add extra veggies – I’ll have to try your recipe! Thanks for sharing
Love this!! Great way to make a rather unhealthy shake healthy!! Thanks for sharing!
What a great idea! I’ll bet you don’t even taste the spinach!
I am always a bit afraid of trying shakes that are too “green.” Maybe I need to just suck it up and try one. Thanks for sharing.
I LOVE how you got the green color from the avocado instead of food coloring
